Welcome to Trezor.io/Start | Your Journey to Self-Custody Begins Here

Congratulations on choosing true ownership. You’ve taken the most important step in securing your cryptocurrency by selecting a Trezor hardware wallet. This guide will help you unbox, connect, and set up your device quickly and securely. Let's get started.

Before You Begin: What You'll Need

Step 1: Connect Your Trezor Device

  1. Plug your Trezor into your computer using the supplied USB cable.

  2. Your device will power on. You should see the Trezor logo on the screen.

Step 2: Initialize Your Device

You will be guided through the process via the official Trezor web interface or desktop app.

  1. Visit Trezor.io/Start: Your browser will automatically direct you to the setup page.

  2. Install Firmware: The first time you connect, you will need to install the latest firmware. This ensures your device has the most up-to-date security features.

Step 3: Create Your Recovery Seed (The Most Important Step)

Your recovery seed is the master key to your cryptocurrency. It is a unique list of words that can restore access to your funds if your Trezor is ever lost or damaged.

  1. Your Trezor device will generate a random recovery seed phrase (12, 18, or 24 words).

  2. Write each word down in the exact order on your included recovery seed card.

  3. Critical Security Advice:

    • NEVER digitize your seed. Do not type it on a computer, take a photo, or store it in the cloud.

    • Write it by hand only on the provided card.

    • Store it in a safe, secure, and private place. Anyone with your seed has access to your funds.

    • Your Trezor will then ask you to confirm the seed by selecting the words in the correct order. This ensures you have written it down correctly.

Step 4: Set Up a PIN

  1. To protect your device from physical access, you will set up a PIN code.

  2. The PIN grid will appear on your computer screen, and you will confirm the numbers on your Trezor's display. This innovative method prevents keyloggers from stealing your PIN.

Step 5: You're Ready to Go!

Once your device is initialized, you can:
